Los Angeles Times Family Fund
Los Angeles, California

Mission

The Los Angeles Times Family Fund, a McCormick Foundation Fund, is committed to improving the community by supporting nonprofit agencies with education and literacy programs that serve disadvantaged children and youth in Los Angeles, Orange, Riverside, San Bernardino and Ventura counties.

The Los Angeles Times Family Fund raises money through two annual fundraising campaigns – the Summer Camp Campaign and the Holiday Campaign. All donations are matched at 50 cents on the dollar by the McCormick Foundation. The Foundation and the Los Angeles Times pay all administrative and fundraising costs. One hundred percent of donations, plus the matching funds, are granted to qualified nonprofit agencies through the Los Angeles Times Family Fund.

Since its inception, the Los Angeles Times Family Fund has awarded more than 1,600 youth-focused grants totaling nearly $30 million. For more information or to make a donation online, visit latimes.com/familyfund.

Guidelines

The Los Angeles Times Family Fund will consider grants for education and literacy program support. Generally, grant amounts for full-year programs will range from $25,000 to $50,000. The Los Angeles Times Family Fund typically does not make capital or research grants or fund government agencies, religious, political, fraternal, veteran or labor organizations. Events, conferences, seminars, workshops, films or exhibits are not eligible for funding. There is no guarantee of annual support.

  • Advocacy and training programs building the capacity of literacy programs, or creating systemic change in the field.
  • Book purchases are supported only as part of an established program.
